  • CS3 Photoshop now accepts EXR alphas?

I updated Photoshop this morning, drank coffee, opened up an EXR and the alpha seems to import correctly? I think it was a raw image update. Anyone notice this?

no, I didn't notice it, because we stopped using exr's mainly because PS didn't handle them well.
So this is good news, thanks!

I think I installed the same update today. As a side question, have you noticed that opening images in Photoshop now takes a long time? Like, a simple jpeg will take 10 seconds or longer? I noticed that starting today, as well as a couple others in our office. I am pretty sure it is not a network problem either. I just wondered if it had anything to do with the update.

I want to update, but I keep getting upload errors. I really want to fix the EXR alpha problem...

if you still have cs2 installed somewhere you may want to try using its exr plugin instead of cs3's.

I wish I did. I guess I could re-install it at home, and bring the .dll to work... But I'm worried it will screw up the added 32-bit functionality in CS3 extended.

I never tried it, but you can download the photoshop plugin from the openexr site, it may work better then the cs3 one (if it's not the same one that is).

it doesn't. it's not actually a .dll but a loader file - something like .bmi from memory. You still get all the extra 32bit options cs2 doesn't have.

thank god they put it back as the way it separated the alpha wasn't correct before.
