    Hello guys,

Perhaps there is a setting on this forum can can do the following (just as the old verion)
When i browse the forums and i have read all the things i would like to read there are still a few threat mark as unread that is okey. but with the previous version those threat became read after a while, or when i revist the forum.

Perhaps you can set this for this forum as well. i kinda liked it.

i search where to set this in the admin panel:
Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> General Settings -> Thread/Forum Read Marking Type

    the options are:
1# Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.

This option is how all versions of vBulletin before 3.5 functioned.

2# Database (no automatic forum marking) - this option uses the database to store thread and forum read times. This allows accurate read markers to be kept indefinitely. However, in order for a forum to be marked read when all threads are read, the user must view the list of threads for that forum.

This option is more space and processor intensive than inactivity-based marking.

3# Database (automatic forum marking) - this option is the same as a previous option, but forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read.

proberly now it is set to 2 ?
    maybe 3 or 1?

Yep, this currently works on this forum too. When you click the "New posts" button, posts that you don't read are moved to a separate section ("the following topics have not been visited since your last login, but still contain new posts") and after some more time, they drop out.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

No problem; I am using this now all the time, it's very handy (I don't think there was a similar function on the old forum).

        Best regards,

There was I used it all the time.
The only strange thing is that a topic where you just replied in or a topic that you just made disappears from the list. On another forum I go to, the link to that topic is displayed in regular text, where an unread topic is bold.
Personally I think that's alot better...

Unfortunatly I can't check the settings for that forum since it's having some weird database issues...

An admin on another forum was so kind to check it for me and they have it set to Inactivity/Cookie Based
Once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.
In my opinion, that's the best setting.

It was so in the beginning for this forum I think... I think some users seemed to have problems with posts being marked (or not marked) as read.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

I like it the way it is, if I have not read a thread it will be unmarked until I do read it (or mark them as read), that is the way it should be IMO. I do not like when threads are marked as read when I end my session, I have had it when the browser has crashed all threads are marked as read, then I need to inspect each one to see if I missed any. There are two tools to mark unread threads as read, one for each sub-forum and a global top level one. With these I think we can all be happy with the way it is currently set up.

Agree with RErender, the way it works is fine for me now.

Cookie based is annoying if you check the forum from different computers, threads already read appear as unread in another computer. And I don't want to miss any thread for being away a few days, I prefer to mark as read if I don't feel like checking them.
