  • maxscript - many changes between max 9 and max 2008?

    hi there

a collegue is looking at getting a book about maxscript, within max 9.

are there many changes between max 9 and max 2008 or is he better off waiting until a new book comes out?

    cheers

not many changes in the code, but there is a whole new script editor.

i'm not a fan of printed books, i'd rather look at the very good maxscript helpfile and the example scripts.

the AVG extensions have been added, which is the most notable change, leading to a few new methods and commands for pretty much every aspect of the script.
They're nicely underlined with a red "NEW" on the maxscript help file.
Of course, all the changes here and there are well listed in the help file, under "What's new in MAXSCript in max2008"

From Max 8 to 9, I have noticed some differences, sometimes the script works , sometimes not...I didn' t have time to look at it.
with Max 2008, some scripts no longer work...
It is due to the fact that in Max 8 you could do some things even if it wasn't possible as they say in the help file...Yes, now, it's really impossible...he,he...I have to find another method but less interesting...
