  • Custom leaves in TREE STORM for MAX?

    Hi all,
I cannot manage to get the "sub-objects" panel to work, once you pressed "Adjust" from the Tree plugin for MAX modiy panel.

In other words, I place the tree, it looks allright, I tab into "Modify", then under "poligons" I press "Adjust", all is well, I can check UV and everithing, but then I press "sub-objects", near the leaves row, and the damm panel is not working. I get the number of objects slider and the "Use plates" button, but cannot set any number in the slider and the button is grayed out...

The above is described in the Tree Storm MAX plugin manual, just like that.

    Puzzling.

Anyone using Storm in MAX has done this? Using custom plates?

    thank you

    ciao

You probably can set the slider, it's just a bit finicky.
Using subobjects doesn't usually work very well though since it splits the tree up into two individual objects. And each has to talk to each other making things excessively slow. You're lucky if you can get anywhere without max crashing. Easiest way to deal with Onyx Trees is to do everything in the external editors and save them out from there. Then turn them into vray proxies. You won't be able to animate them blowing in the wind that way though, but doing that with subobject leaves in Treestorm is a pain anyway. Maybe someone else has some tips to make it go more smoothly?

hmmm...I really clicked everywhere on the damm slider and pushed all keybord's keys...nothing, cannot get the slider to show any colored bar or number...sigh.

          I will try again...

About wind animation, all I would like right now is to get more realistic leaves, for closer views. I want the leaves to bent, and to vary more. Using sub objects should allow you to cluster up to 10 different plates, if I understood the manual...

I did not contact Onyx, thought it would be faster over here...Besides, many times production experience beats tech support...

          thank you
