  • 3dsmax 2009 Desgin - Exposure Analysis?

I haven't experimented with 2009 - some of you have. Is it just me or does it sound like they have incorporated something similar to what Lele has come up with for his cameras? Is it something completely different?

I'm having a hard time believing ADesk would release a new version of Max so soon after their previous one...

Different to Lele's scripts. It's a lighting analysis tool, similar to Ecotect. 2009 has been released now to coincide with other Autodesk product releases from now on.

The Exposure feature in 3ds Max 2009 has nothing to do with camera exposure as such; it is a suite of tools for making the task of lighting analysis somewhat easier, e.g. by checking that you are only using physically accurate materials (to the extent that the Arch&Design material is physically accurate...), only photometric lights and such. It also allows you to perform some common tasks (e.g. adding a Daylight system) from one central place.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

It's also pretty much irrelevant from a visualisation standpoint - it's more for analyists/architects and checking where your light/shadows fall, hot spots and reflections that blind people.

When it was demo'd 2 months ago, it continually crashed for about half an hour, gave a massivly wrong result at one point just before crashing, and generally looked like a completley useless sack of shit. then they gave up trying to show it and just talked about it for a bit.

Although It was an early build - there is no doubt in my mind that autodesk have managed to pull out all the stops and make it a stable, useful addition to max since I saw it...
