Do *not* PM Jonathan, he may convince you: I well should know...

Jokes apart, I think it may be a great opportunity for some of us VRay users and forum frequenters to team up with some of the greatest personalities of the 3D scene, in a fast growing reality with some serious ambitions.

I can tell you their HR department is extremely competent, attentive and helpful: they really are doing everything and a bit to make my own transition over there as simple as possible, under every aspect.

The kind of minds working at that place are amongst the best to be found anywhere, one name that you may know: Bobo.

The amount of tools they develop and use @ Frantic presents a stunning opportunity for anyone to learn something new and cutting edge.
Flood, Krakatoa, Amaretto/Gelato, to name the obvious (and not covered by NDA) ones.

I'd suggest those of you with half a mind for a change to give it a serious thought.
In my own eyes it's a really, really good opportunity, and I sure didn't have to think twice before jumping at it.
I'm only waiting for my Visa now, and boy minutes seem like hours...

Lol well, i DID do some extensive research on Canada and Winnipeg in particular.
You know, being Italian, a healthy-food lover, reading about the rigid winter temperatures in WinterPeg, I was a tad concerned.
What I discovered is now making me drool in anticipation: Winnipeg is culturally very rich and very much alive, the environment is above beautiful, pollution negligible, and it has a very rich organic-food community (bakeries, meat and vegetables, and even a micro-brewery!), without being a tiny town or a massive city.
Also, the climate is more reminiscent of some place high up in the alps, where the thermometer drops well below zero, but being very dry it's not bad at all to live through (unlike here in Milan, where with 5 degrees above zero, and 60% humidity it's nigh impossible to walk outside the door without rattling teeth).
All in all, I am really looking forward to this big move, and quite positive Canada will be kind to me as a new home, if not "native" land
I still have all my fingers crossed

Sounds like a good move Lele. I can't imagine wanting to move FROM Italy but hey. I would imagine Canada is a great place to move.

Eh, life in certain parts of Italy, and for certain classes of workers can be blissful.
To me, after a few years of life and work in London, certainly provided relaxation, but also forced me to do a job that I never quite felt as fulfilling -on a technical/personal development level- as the one I'm going to do (ArchViz, versus VFX).
The situation over here is complex on a national and cultural level, and definitely not getting any better by the day.
I won't go into details, as it might hurt someone's feelings, but I can say I'm extremely glad of leaving some parts of what "Italy" represents to me well behind.
Others -of course- I'll miss greatly, but hey, that's a price I'll gladly pay for such and opportunity, and that's also what holidays are for...

Hey I hear ya loud and clear. I have done the same thing 10 years ago. And it was hard!
Different country, different people, different coulture.
I found my self isolated, lonely...not knowing anyone etc. It was pretty tough for a few years. Then started to make friends and it got better (heavy drinking involved on a regular basis). Actually I moved to winnipeg at first too. My sister lived there with her husband.
However back in 1997 it was a very small town, about 600k population. And it was very hard to find something to do.
So good luck! and maybe drop by Vancouver, for a beer or whatever you drink in Italy

Frantic Films sounds like a great place to work. Strangely enough most of the people are more concerned about weather, leisure time and food than about the job itself, although is quite understandable if u come from Italy, with your mediterranean diet, of course. Im sure ull do great things over there Lele!
But most of them u wont be able to talk about due to NDAs and stuff!

Im amazed at the quality of FF plugins, had the opportunity to see Krakatoa in action and it
was impressive. Connect that with the new Thinking Particles 3 and we are talking business!

I strongly believe that an arch forum is not the best place to look for people, but at the same time im sure they will be searching in other places too. On the other hand, it is true that the very best vray experts are wandering around, hiding in the shadows. Its encouraging to see a hi level company being 3dsmax+vray based, since it looks like everyone's using maya these days.

Hey Lele get us informed about your progress at your new life! What position will u be holding? Oh, and good luck with your hiring, Frantic Films!
