  • Vray for XSi

    On the XSi web site I read :

    Softimage customers can now enjoy XSI integrations of the following renderers:

    * Indigo Renderer
    * 3Delight
    * V-Ray
    * Maxwell

    http://softimage.com/products/xsi/whats_new.aspx

    Very good news... I hope that vray 1.6 will be release on XSi soon ???!!!
    Or I miss something and XSI guys too...

    Pleave Vlado... Give us a chance to leave Autodesk... please
    (or not if Max2009 became a new legendary software... )

    Best regards...

          We support XSI 6.02 and XSI 6.5, as they have convenient API functions specifically for 3rd party renderers.

            Vlado. will the xsi version have the same license policy as the max version? I know that was a big thing back in the days before MR was unlimited and now it is the same thing in xsi. totally barock MR licensing policy.

              This is very likely to be as the 3ds Max version, yes.

                    just to make sure, with the dongle we cannot use that license for XSI right?
                    We have to buy a xsi vray version if we want to use XSI? if that is true i cannot find any1 prices/info on other versions besides max.. ?

                            Is there any information about this yet? Do current vray for 3dsmax users need to buy another license for XSI or will there be a upgrade or something?

                            Another thing: When it comes to operating systems, will vray for XSI work in linux too or will it be windows only plugin?

                              V-Ray for XSI is in beta testing phase right now and you can get this if you email us to vray@chaosgroup.com

                              It will be compiled for Linux as well (this is not too hard as we already have V-Ray for Maya running on Linux).

                              There is no specific information about pricing yet, but it is very likely that you will have to pay less if you already own V-Ray for 3ds Max (e.g. just for the XSI to V-Ray translator).

                              Best regards,
                              Vlado
