  • Simplest Way to Splice Together Camera Animation

Hi. I'm looking for the simplest way to splice together different cameras.

I have 1 large animation divided up by 3 different cameras. I want to assemble them together - I'd assume I'd want a fade from 1 camera to the next at their transitions.

What's the easiest method/program to go about this?

Easiest way would be to use a video application like premiere or vegas. Render out the cameras, load the clips into vegas/premiere and then use a preset transition or reate our own.
Depending on your scene setup you could also do this in max, Andy Murdock has a nice camera blender script on his website: www.lotsofrobots.com
The advantage in doing it in vegas is that you can easily change and ajust the transition, so i would recommend doing it in your video application rather then in 3dsmax.

ive noticed that at the mention of max video-post people go silent. is there any particular reason? when i was at university and all i had was max i used the video post for compositing and for editing and it worked like a dream for what i needed without having to get a video editor

Yeah - I just never toyed around with working it. The program was complicated enough learning it on my own.

As for a solution, a very simple method I just used was Windows Movie Maker.

I'm with you Da_elf!! Video Post is a great app if you dont have access to any video editing software.

Well, Max's Video Post can technically do great things, but the non-WYSIWYG nature of it makes it a real pain to deal with. All they need to do is give you the ability to see what the heck you're doing while you're putting things together and it would rock.
