  • Shape Merge

I have always fought with this... when I do a cookie cutter shapemerge how do you select the poly's of the shape? I used to be able to do it my converting it to a polymesh and going to the sub object. The shape I merged would be highlighted. Not now.

Have you checked the appropriate Output sub-mesh type?

      Sub-Mesh

I picked face. It seems Vertex is working, but it isn't what I need.

hmm, is you spline all welded cleanly, any double segs or overlaps?

          Spline

Everything looks good. The function seems to work and I can manually select the faces.

            Spline

I tried a rectangle and everything worked as planned. It is an Autocad import so it is probably a bad spline.

try importing the autocad as legacy autocad and see if that helps

I'll have issues with AutoCAD splines too, from time to time. Sometimes running Shape Check from the Utilities helps to show the offending issue.

I dont think i've ever used an imported spline for something like this.

Much effort to turn 2.5d snap on and re-draw? That should work, at least.

                    2d snap

This is how I handles it. I redrew it, but not the ideal. I'll try that Shape Check from the Utilities tip

Autocad has a command called Overkill that will remove any overlapping lines. It is a good first step. Explode everything, then overkill, then poly join again.

                        overkill

                        I use that often.
