  • strange shift+clone behavior - please help

when I switched to max 2008:
for clone, I have to shift+ MOVE.
    without moving, it doesnt clone.

before,(max 9) when I click shift+one axis constraint (without physically moving), it duplicated.

is there a setting for this somewhere hidden? I tried to find but I couldnt.
    anybody have any idea?

Try ctrl+v. It will clone the object.

      thanks for eply
but ctrl+V is not practical for sub-object modes.

I dont know why it started to behave like this.

now I read from autodesk that this was delibaretely made in max 2008.
for prevent accidentally cloning this way.

then how do we clone in sub-object mode? I couldnot understand this.
do we have to move a little -clone -and move back to its place every time we want to make a clone in its original place?

The "detach" option allows you to clone to element in place. I think "detach mesh" and "detach poly" may even be keyboard mappable functions.
