Come on ...this topic is nothing for this forum, it's more an topic for an lawyer.

IMHO: Bashing someone in a thread without giving him the chance to reply is worth to be deleted. I now think the moderators here are doing a good job ..maybe a cleanout with the sticky msgs and i would be really happy.

The thread was deleted by our support guys (not by me) at the request of the person that was mentioned there; we believe he did get the point brought up by Jujubee quite well, so the original post served its purpose after all. But there is no point in the thread staying on the forum for all time. Anyways, it is only soft-deleted so it can be brought back at any time.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

            Ah, thank you Vlado.
I wrote a long reply to the mentioned topic where my opinion is not to delete it. Maybe it´s okay to remove names, but it shall not been deleted. I too was quite angry about the boy, but I think for good reasons. I also think this thread was good for protecting young talents. It can protect from doing something wrong because of carelessness without considering the consequences.

So IMO bring it up again.

Well, it's not the first time someone has brought up art theft on the forums and that others here have looked out for one another.

It does however feel quite strange to have my posts removed when I didn't do anything wrong - I was just wondering what he wrote every moderator that seemed so convincing to be able to do so. Apparently someone requested that their name be pulled - but instead the whole entire post got nuked.

Oh well - I don't 'think' he will ever do it again. Or at least if he does, he may be a bit more careful which jobs/outsourcing he applies to. All said and done, it's actually quite funny - perhaps one of the most careless, dumbest criminal things I have ever seen anyone do.

                maybe technically you are right.
but practically I disagree. come on- this guy stole his image and put his name under it. what can be the BEST explanation for this?
I agree that it is a topic of a lawyer BUT in some countries courts and laws are too slow- taking 5-10 years.
so sending our work to forums is kind of an proof that work belongs to us when we publish our work (unofficial copyright) and that protects artists from cheaters in a practical way. So exposing is a good way to shake people and save the innocent person whose work has been stolen.

I think if people who do this thing are made an example of (their details posted across 3 boards, the assurance that a google search for their name will turn up those results first) then we would see a lot less of this happening - only counting regular users of this forum and i've seen it about 5/6 times in my 3 year career.

And by a lot less I mean I cant see anyone being stupid enough to try it after hearing about someone being caught. Remove all record of it happening, and we're back at square one.

fine, then there is no reason for another thread in this forum ..this thread could also be deleted , because it doesn't make sense anymore

Well I think it's an important issue and should be talked about and made aware of. People stealing others art work and putting their own watermarks is ridiculous, and it discourages honest people from posting their work in the Image uploads area in this site or any other site. The lesson is not only for the person who did it, but for any other person "thinking" about doing it, maybe they could see this thread and think twice about stealing others work and claiming it to be their own.

Actually, there's a sticky in the Image Upload forum about this topic:

Just to let you know where i'm standing:
I was active CGarchitect comunity member for years, but since i saw that Cgarchitect is not only using deep linking, which is in european law a copyright infringement, but also ignores the request to not deep link copyrighted content, i quit there. ..don't doubt my interests!

                                got me?
