  • Photoshop CS3 and 32bit images - slow as hell

Are there alternatives? As much as i'd love to get Fusion here, it's too expensive to justify for the single in-house visualiser

im afraid ive got to say, really havent noticed any problems with cs3, and at print resolution (4k - 6k) no worries at all... what format are you reading - exr works fine and very quick here. do you have a portable app? if so install the full version for better performance.

but if you want a float alternative..... nuke... but its expensive, but well worth the price...

I find Pshop slow with 32bit files as well. CS4 is no better.

Haven't found a real good alternative yet. Quadcore (not like is matters... lol) on quite good raid drives and 8gigs of ram, and PS is still damn slow when it comes to print resolutions and 32bit... We usually use Nuke to do most of the post work, but several things, especially smaller projects are easier to handle in PS.

Only advice I can give is to close everything besides PS, and keep your fingers crossed.

        Best regards,
        A.
