  • 2 New Scripts - GetSelectedMaterial and PhotoshopSelectedMaterial

    Friends,
Here are 2 new scripts for your enjoyment. I suggest keybinding them to

    CTRL-SHIFT-G for GetSelectedMaterial
    CTRL-SHIFT-P for PhotoshopSelectedMaterial

GetSelectedMaterial - Takes your current scene selection and automatically loads the material(s) in the material editor for easy editing. It works if you have multiple objects selected and saves your fingers from lots of radio box and scene clicking.

PhotoshopSelectedMaterial - Select an object in your scene and run this script through your keybinding or toolbar button. It will automatically open photoshop and load all the bitmaps assigned to the object!

These scripts will save you time and save you money. Enjoy! These scripts will be updated on ScriptSpot.com as new functionality is added or bugs are fixed. So please search for updates there, and as always please add a point on scriptspot if you find them useful.

Post success stories here (or bugs)!

    Update: Max9 compatible!

EDIT: Works great now! Thanks Colin.

      ------------------------------------

Sounds great but I'm getting errors on both
      Code:
      ---------------------------
      MAXScript MacroScript Error Exception
      ---------------------------
-- Type error: Call needs function or class, got: undefined
      ---------------------------
      OK
      ---------------------------
with "objMats = makeUniqueArray objMats" highlighted on the get materials one and "if (hasINISetting iniFile "Photoshop" "Path") then (" on the photoshop one.

      running Max 9 x64

Drat! They are for Max 2008+, I am using the AVG Extensions for both of them. I can easily fix them if you need support for 9+

It is funny how over time we just get used to jumping through the hoops Max presents us with.

These will definitely be useful! Thanks for sharing.

No prob Giraffe. Let me know how they are and how they could be improved to make life even easier. I figured out what to do with multisub materials on the photoshopSelectedMaterial script, so I'll implement that soon.

Fun, I've had a photoshop one for a while from Colin Bamber and use it regularly! http://www.colinbamber.com/archives/111#more-111

The get material is useful though, I find myself doing that 'eyedropper shuffle' quite often.
