    hi there

I need an overview from profesional artists doing print size images for internal Render Farm improvements

what is your common resolution for print images ?
how often you use displacement in it?
what elements you need for post?
what rendertime you spend per image (without DR)?

    thx

what is your common resolution for print images ? 3.5k wide, although we've been up to 7.
how often you use displacement in it? all the time, the real question is how much (it varies)
what elements you need for post? depends on the image, sometimes none, sometimes specular, raw lighting and some multimatte for masks
what rendertime you spend per image (without DR)? anywhere between 5 and 40 hours.

what is your common resolution for print images ? 5-7k
how often you use displacement in it?rarely, but we often use Huge maps, something like 12k if we can get away with it.
what elements you need for post?vrayNormal, vrayZdepth, vray wirecolor, that's usually all. sometimes raw reflection too.
what rendertime you spend per image (without DR)? x-36 hours. we obviously try to keep that down. I push to get most of the product shots to 2-3 hours, but with stainless steel it's usually closer to 10 hours.

how often you use displacement in it? rarely extensively, but fairly often for little things here and there.

what is your common resolution for print images? 7k - but been up to 20k
how often you use displacement in it? 50% of the time
what elements you need for post? completely dependant on the job, but usually a separate shadow pass, z-depth & wirecolour for masking.
what rendertime you spend per image (without DR)? Use DR for everything, so that's almost impossible to gauge... From 1 to 10 hours.
