  • Flash Memory 16Gb recomendation?

Hi,I'm looking to buy a 16Gb Flash Memory USB stick. I'd need to copy both big and small files to it. Big files are video files, 3-4Gb and small image files,100-1000Kb.Could anyone recomend a good, reliable model? I spend last 2 hours googling around but couldn't find any usefull and curent information. Thanks in advanceZoran

I've got one called a SanDisk Cruzer, had it since October 08 and it hasn't given me any problems.

I like the mobilemate from sandisk together with a sdhc card.

it's on my keyring for half an year now and i can say that it's a fast (not superfast) usb device and a small gadget if you have or want to exchange mp3's or photos from your mobile.

Thaks for you input guys. I'll still have to do some research regarding write-speed. Apparently that's what differentiats "boys from man-flash cards!"zoran

            Here's a link to a recent comparison:

Though there are no 16gb drives it may help you decide on what brand to look for.

I've had the best luck with the Patriot Xporter drives. I think you can get them over at Newegg.com. I've never been impressed with speed by much of anything sandisk creates. And reliability varies per line.

just checked. Newegg has the 16 gig (also has 32 and 64) for 39.99 with a 10 dollar mail in. Those are fun when the company pays. I'm not a fan of mail in rebates, but that's not a terrible price. OCZ is also a brand I trust for most all things memory. You can find a few of their products a couple bucks less.

Keep in mind you can get 16gigs of SDHC memory for 30 bucks right now. So if you get much higher than 40 dollars for a Flash Mem drive, you're probably paying for a slick design (fine in my opinion) or getting totally ripped off.

Just to update the topic, he he. It might be usefull to someone.

Just bought new flash-drive: 16Gb Corsair-Voyager GT, which is supposed to be the fastest one on the market
COmpared it to my 2-years old 4Gb Imation drive and below are the results.
Comparison is not scientific. I just copied files from my HDD to flash drive and measured times. I only included transfer rates for my typical usage: coping small number of large files and large number of small files.

                  Imation:
                  10 files = 5.76Mb/s
                  1000 files= 4.68Mb/s

                  Voyager:
                  10 files = 12.45Mb/s
                  1000 files= 10.23Mb/s

                  Regards
                  Zoran

That's pretty substantial, and even with the size of the drive quadrupled.
