  • mocap data bhv resizing geometry after import...please help

    I was plying with importing mocap data onto axyz 3d rigged people model. bhv is also from axyz. The problem is that after loading it stretches the geometry. Is there any way to avoid it?

    I find that if you make a dummy biped, load in the bvh and let it do its resizing, save the motion capture as a bip file and then load the bip to the actual character it works fine.

        joconnell, do you have any tips how to loop biped walk cycle?
        It seems that out-of-range doesn't work with biped anim.

          My workaround is to extend the animation range, clone all the keyframes before and after the animation cycle and restore the previous range.

          Hope there is a better way ...

            The "nice" way to do it is using Biped Motion Mixer. It's basically a motion editor (similar to a video editor) which will let you add tracks and blend them properly. This way you can effectively loop a walk cycle while controlling precisely the transition between the start and end of each loop. The motion mixer is located under the biped rollout and it's the 4th icon on the top row.

            My advice would be converting from BHV first to biped, like joconnel said, and then import the .bip files in motion mixer. You can even stretch them, create time warps, etc...pretty neat. Then create a transition track and play with the blending between 2 motions.
            Once you have finished, you can "bake" the finished animation (it's called compute mixdown) into the biped and create a "Super BIP" as a result of all the loops one after another.

              Yep I'd go with the above advice - very handy for doing really nasty cheap crowd scenes and what not!

                well i couldn't figure out how to use mixer to cycle the walk becasue when I load bip as another track it move the geometry to starting point instead of keep on going where last walk ended. But I figured how to do it using motion flow mode . Thanks again guys. Anyway I will also try to figure out how to do it in mixer.

                  To create a loop in motion mixer, u need to create a transition track, not the regular one, and then just put the same bip clip 2 or more times, one in top of the other. Motion mixer will let u tweak the transition, just in case the original clip was not intended to be looped.
