can anyone help - Vector displace - where did i see this image?

I've done a search but can't find this - I wonder if anyone knows what i'm refering to.
I'm trying to explain what Vector displacement is to someone (a client / creative director)

There was an image that showed a flat plane, the coloured map, and then a rendered set of perfect spheres sitting ontop of the original plane (the result of vector displacement)

Does anyone remember this?
It would be a great way to explain this concept to someone.
