  • Camera Tracking Examples

anyone know of any good links demonstrating 3d animation that has been combined with real video footage - im looking for examples where real video of a natural scene has been camera tracked & then overlayed with new 3d content ? I have a possible small job that will require taking footage of an existing lake (with a few houses on the shoreline), & adding in some new 3d elements (like a boardwalk, a few benches etc) - the idea is to get the new elements blended in with the real footage. I'd like to see something similar to this that someone has already done ? Anyone got any good links ?

    Thanks !

that looks like a good site. But, does anyone know of an example showing a 'natural' setting (i mean with trees, planting, lake - or anything vaguely similar) which has been combined with CGI ? Either that or just a totally CGI video showing really well made landscaping (trees, planting etc etc)

looks for something called icarus. its free and works great. even though the tutorial discusses boujou, icarus can do what you need

you're probably better off using something like vrayscatter, to recreate the landscape.

camera tracking is hard, software like boujou can do amazing things, but there's still a lot of manual editing nessecary, and with some shots it doesn't work at all.

the problem with landscape/trees is that you need matte geometry for proper shadow casting and lighting, and you have to cut out stuff in the foreground. not easy with a tree. it's easier to use a 3d tree instead...

thats exactly what im thinking. Persuade the client that a good enough job can be done all in 3d
