Looking back at my previous message singing their praises seems a bit strange, while I understand their stance on licencing you are right duke2, totally impractical in the 'real' world of commercial art. Luckily catastrophic failures are rare but they do happen, usually late at night or even worse in the early hours of the morning.

That's a pretty good summation - shit happens, but with a system like this, you're fucked twice!

I'm just going to throw this flamebait out there: It doesn't say much for a company to not support Max 2010 some months after it's release.

It can be worse: fRender mostly comes at the middle of the Max-upgrade cycle. AND: you have to pay for the upgrade.

I detest the idea of using licensed software for scattering stuff around and junk. I picked up xrayunwrap the other day. Cost like 10bucks and has no software license. Thats the kind of software I like. I dont like being treated like a software pirate. Even if its non intentional.

              Just an update...

Groundwiz has been updated for 2010 now. (free update)

I'm not a big fan of Groundwiz's licensing system either.
Being a freelancer I use Max on my stationary and laptop, and they don't let you activate Groundwiz on both. There is a Max like license transfer system, but it's set up in a really stupid way. First you have to go to the computer that's gonna receive the license, open the transfer program and copy a long code (too long to just type out). Then you have to go to the computer that's currently having the license, paste in the "request code", which gives you a second more complex code which you have to copy again and go back to the first computer and paste back into that transfer utility. Of course there's no way to automatically do it over a network so you have to save the codes to a file, bring it over and copy it in manually...
