  • XP home AutoCAD and MAX

Has anyone had luck running AutoCAD and MAX on XP home or Vista home.

I want a small laptop to look at files (no actual work) and most of the small ones have XP home or Vista home.

no problem...the only difference i noticed with vista home is the lack of proper remote desktop support, and some different system/application defaults.

You might want to go with XP home, Vista eats memory which is limited in notebooks...

So far so good. Got a HP Mini 2140 with 2 gigs of ram 160 GB drive and Vista home. Everything including MAX runs okay (rendering slowwwwww as expected).

The screen looks good and and it seems to be reasonably quick considering the size. 10.3 x 6.5 x 1.05 in 2.6 pounds, great for travel! Should help keep things moving when on vacation out of the country.

Can't do much about MAX....but you should check out DesignReview for looking at drawings....its free too. Might run a little faster then a full install of Autocad.
