You can find the controls in the Common tab of the Render Setup dialog (F10). I am not sure you can bring it to a toolbar as a button though.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

In Max 2009, you can go to Customize-->Toolbars-->MainUI-->Render and add the "Edit Render Region" to any toolbar. Might be in a different place in 2010 though.

The "Edit Render Region" button is ok if you want to resize your render region but it is useless if you want to desactivate to render a full view.

Maybe i'm wrong but it have to be another button to activate or deactivate the render region like in older versions of 3dsMax.

Quickly scanning this thread, I think you're looking for the "Area to Render" dropdown menu located on the Rendered Frame Window?

                That lets you choose View/Selected/Region/Crop/Blowup...

Edit: Took the time to read the thread now, you want to customize it, not sure...
Edit2: Not sure there is a preset custom option, but you could write your own MaxScript with setRenderType #region and put that anywhere you want...
