  • hardware screen capture?

I've got snagIt, but don't usually have very good luck with performance.
I was hoping to get a piece of hardware that plugs right in to one of the monitor cables and passes the signal through to the minitor. That way it just records whatever I see on the monitor, but is in no way connected to the computer.

That's got to exist right? I couldn't find it on quick search. That is one of those searches that brings up Loads of crap about free software, reviews and other junk like that.

I'd like to record us using vrayRT demo on our own stuff to send to my boss in Italy so he can foot the bill for all 10 copies. For now I'll have to deal with my own version of Mr Blurrycam using our crappy Digital Elph.

I'm pretty sure the need for this is mostly because we use dual monitor. I don't want to have to switch to single monitor in order to take a vid screen grab. If something like that is out there I hope it just takes the hassle out.

Software wise, TechSmith's Camtasia is more suited to what you are attempting as far as software goes. Their 30-day trial is not feature locked.

Hardware wise, the loose term for what you are looking for is a Capture Card. But most of the reasonably priced units need to be connected to your computer so that your computer, or another computer can handle the video encoding.

This one appears to come with everything needed IF you have a spare seperate computer to use for encoding. Here is a review of an older model.
