  • Guess the Artist

I thought this was interesting - seeing many of you create architectural renderings. So, guess who this artist is (and no, I am not a fan...):

I had no idea hitler was that good, the paintings i saw by him were a bit rubbish tbh.

Hitler was actually pretty reasonable as an artist. He would frequently give pretty good architectural sketches to his architect Albert Speer, who was a pretty good architect in his own right.

              hitler was good?
not one line on that painting is straight, the columns are all swaying, shading is crap, theres no sense of depth etc.
he was awful as a painter.
maybe he had good architectural ideas, but i'm sure most of us have. speer did all the job

btw - this is a lesson to all the art professors around the world.

I was half-tempted to delete the signature, and leave you guys guessing. Then I just hoped you wouldn't have been able to read it lol.

Keep in mind that this was his work as a kid prior to WWI. I saw a program on the History Channel here in the US on his youth and was surprised to see that he was interested in architectural renderings. He got turned down for acceptance to Vienna then became a soldier.

I was curious and wanted to see more of his renderings and came across this.

I disagree with Pali - I think he was pretty decent at rendering and his skills would have only improved over time (not to mention the world would have been a much differently shaped place.)

well if this is what he painted as a kid, then my comment was wrong.
didn't know it was one of his early works.

that kid had some skillz, too bad he wasn't properly recognized.

but still i don't like the mood of his stuff. too heavy and too cold - like a tiger II tank

kind of surprising that its not as traditional and rectilinear as it could be

as you all know the nazis hated modern art, held exhibitions of degenerate art, closed the bauhaus (while Goering, I think it was, was secretly stealing any modern art he could get his hands on)

                    the sky is quite ok

You could certainly nitpick it all day, in the areas you spoke of, but I like it nonetheless.

that wasn't nitpicking - that was my personal opinion, based on the assumption that this was one of his later works.

and as i said in my later post - for a kid this one is ok.

You also have to figure that this painting has faded over the past 80 or 90 some years. It must have been more vibrant at one point.

As for a person, yeah he was a complete s***head. I don't think anyone is disputing that... And if they do, I wouldn't want to know them.
