  • Select from scene dialog (2008/2009/2010)

I previously reverted to the old selection dialog, but i've been using the new one since I installed 2010. What shits me to no end, however, is the fact that it sorts by object creation, not how I last set it. I want to sort things alphabetically but it forgets that I pressed this last time, and the next time I bring it up it's back to object creation order! Is there a way to set/fix this?

I always saw that as a very annoying bug and was hoping it was fixed in 2010...guess not. That sucks.

So many people complaining about this, I hate when some programmer decides to change things...."it's a feature"
Two heads are better than one ...
....but some head is better than none.....

click on the word "name" would sort by name

Ok, now close and re-open the dialog. I have to do this each time?

Maybe it's possible to make a script that you remap to h that opens it AND sorts by name.

Yeah.. the option to choose how you want it setup would be nice, versus the usual Autodesk strategy.

makes me think of another annoying problem and I'm not sure if its an Autodesk bugger up or a Microsoft bugger up: In max when saving, opening, browsing textures, files the darn thing never remembers my view settings. I like to display by "detail" but no matter what, next time it defaults back to "list".
                Kind Regards,
                Morne

I think I may have a fix for that shitty MS problem. Open the open dialog, hold ctrl(or maybe it's alt) and press the X to exit the dialog. It should save the view settings.
