is there anybody who knows if any alternative to multi/sub-map compatible with VRay and max2010 is available?

If you are trying to randomly apply color/map per object or mat ID, bercon gradient is capable of this, and dare I say much more powerful and versatile than the multi/sub map.

Grant Adams made a multi-map that you can find on the RPM Manager site. Just started using it but so far it works very well for me.

I missed that feature, I've to look deeper at bercon gradient, thanks for the tip

ah, sorry! I'm still back and forth between 2009 and 2010 and lost track.

Testing right now, so far works fine with random type and solid interpolation; the only drawback is still not RT compatible; I suspect that this kind of issues will be more and more frequent in the future

I just find this one http://www.cg-source.com/multitexture.php ; did anyone already test it?

Multitexture works great, and is programmed by the same gentleman that made Bercon Maps...but I would suspect that it still would not work with RT.
