  • Is there a way to bake simcloth to keys?

Hope this is an ok place to put this. Topic says it all.

I need to take a simcloth animation and bake it to keys. Is there any way to do this?

What I really need to do is stretch it out for a slow motion effect. Simply changing the frame rate in max is very close to what I need, but there is some pulsing back and forth when I do this. I am hoping that stretching keys may work better.

Edit: I have found a few scripts that appear to be able to do this, but they do not appear to work in the latest version of Max. I'm unfortunately not enough of a scripter to figure out what is not working.

    Anyone?

Can you not use the PointCache modifier?

    Best regards,

I hadn't actually used the point cache before.

I just took a look and it gives me better control than I had before, but unfortunately the animation still wobbles back and forth when I try to play at a slower rate.

What I mean by wobble, is that an individual ripple may move left to right in normal playback, but if I slow the framerate down then it will oscillate back and forth between the two original positions.

edit: ok, I may be getting somewhere now. I am running the simulation at higher framerates, and everything seems to be working correctly now. (Fingers crossed) I think the method I was doing before was doing what it was supposed to, but the interpolation was messing things up.

edit2: That did the trick. All is good now. Thanks for the awesome software.
