had headaches with clients telling me things were wrong with my clips i was sending them. finally tracked it down to when i was checking online to figure out why the hell max uses the terms odd and even for their fields when every other software uses upper and lower. and the document said odd fields were upper fields first. totally wrong. grrrrrrrrrrr. finally did a simple test with a white bar running across the screen horizontally in max and one in AE and matched them up. if i had only done the test first i would have saved a lot of headaches

Fields are evil. I hate them so much. Longer rendertimes, cheap TV-Show look, postproduction and keying nightmare. I hope they will come extinct soon.
    Progressive looks so much better.
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.

We stopped using fields on dvds a good while ago (thank god). So long as you use good motion blur you can get away with it.

The increase in render time for vray motion blur is about the same as the increase for rendering to fields.

i normally will have nothing to do with fields. but since this is to be run on a proprietary system which needs fields i got to do as the client needs
