  • About boat's trail

    Dear Friends,

i have a question about boat's trail on the water- that foam that comes out from the rear end of a boat when it's moving, how it's done and material wise, if there's any, please do help, thank you so much.

Depends. There are various ways. Cleverly used opacity maps as mentioned. Something like Dreamscape to create the maps/mats/waves. Or even Particleflow. The possibilities are endless.

I do, I think. I used it for just this purpose. I'll see what I can do tomorrow - but basically, this plugin poops a string of polygons behind your reference object, which is UV mapped. So you can put it slightly above water, turn off cast shadows, and apply noises and falloffs to the opacity.

Also, I recall testing network rendering with it otherwise it would be quite useless! So yeah, that works too.

i am not satisfied yet, any suggestion ? i didn't do it with the plug in, i just did it with parray and opacity map with radial gradation and noise in it.
