  • Can I save terrain height info (GIS stuff) from GoogleEarth?

    Hi all

Is it possible to save the terrain height info from Google Earth? You know the 3d view GIS stuff?

I'm doing something for a location in Namibia and all I have is a satelite image, but no hieght info for the mountains. Anywhere where I can get it for free on the web?

Alternatively how can I "photoshop" the satelite image to be used as displacement map?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Technically not supposed to do that as satellite data is often sold... but there are 3d rippers out there (not advocating their usage.)

Also, you might be able to work something from Nasa World Wind which is open to the public (American tax payers dollars at work):
