  • Light Source Detection

This might just be my imagination - but wasn't there a script which detected the approximate location of a light source?

For example, if I have a HDR in a scene and there's one main light source which is the sun - is there some way through a script to automatically insert a Vray Sphere or key light by detecting the brightest value and positioning it in relations to the 0,0,0 world coordinates?

If i recall right the SiblEdit could do that. In addition you can generate lightsources using median cut algorithms with hdrshop + lightgen

Yeah I'm trying to figure out a way without having to use sIBL.

I usually make object fully reflective and then position dummy light with the "Place Highlight" command. Sometimes I just use a sphere innstead of object to easier spot the sun in the HDRI reflection

        Hope this helps
