  • Need help - what computer to buy for Vray

    Hi everybody,

I am new to this forum and I need help with buying a new computer. I need something that can render fast photorealistic architecture in Vray 3DS max.

So what computer should I buy, the one with good graphic card or quad processors, or both, because I am confused about new GPU rendering in realtime, I don't care about rendering in realtime because it's not good enough for final image (or am I wrong) so is GPU only for preview or it can render FASTER and final output?

So if someone has a very fast configuration I would like to know what is the best option.

    Thanks!

You will probably find your answer here:

EDIT: These i7 builds will take care of the rendering no problem.

Put a good graphics card in it and you have a great workstation as well.

My recommendation for a good video card would be to look for one that does not have default overclocking. I have found these to be less than ideal for situations where stability is more important than speed, and stability is certainly something you would want in a workstation.

VRayRT is considered a workflow tool for iterative material/model/lighting enhancement, not really a presentation quality renderer...yet
