  • Anyone tried Google Wave yet?

As the title suggests, anyone had a bash at it yet?

It looks very interesting, especially with the multitude of addons that seem to be in the pipeline.

I'm still not sure how useful it would be as a business tool (at the moment anyway)

What do others think of it so far? I have 2 invites left if anyone wants a try (going to have to be first replies in here if anyone wants one)

    I'm interested to test it...

    Thanks in advance.

Well i find it gets very confusing and very chaotic pretty soon as waves grow. Plus i am not really seeing THE usecase for it. All the things i saw can be done better with other specialised tools...so i think it's cool, but i havent gotten the point yet heh.

      Regards,
      Thorsten

yeah i dont really see the point of it. yet... I'm sure someone will figure it out.

But at this stage I just look at it and ... do nothing

I've seen various usecases and hyped uses that made me scratch me head...like:

embedding bugs from a bug tracking system for development collaboration
(why would i ? there's loads of tools doing a better, less cluttered and more integrated job right now...production proven)

            play RPG
(am not an RPG player...but it looked, and read pretty weird and pointless)

            Customer Care
            (See Bugtracking)

Now while it can prolly be tailored (by writing custom widgets and alike) to handle all kinds of tasks, i am pretty sure a tailored system will work better, more fluent, more integrated and have better usability. A replacement for Chat ? Surely not. Other's beeing able to edit your posts is a nogo, as well as beeing able to comment on something 500 pages up and with many ppl that gets VERY confusing. As a Forum...similar to Chatting it just doesnt work well for that.

I am sure too that there IS a decent use...but for now i'll just keep adding pointless polls to pointless waves :P

            Thorsten

I read they might make gmail more like wave. I haven't found it to be that great, but I guess some people might find a good use for it. It combines chat and mail, but I find the interface to be a little unintuitive and the support is limited (it's still in preview though). Whenever they fully combine it with gmail, I might find more use for it.
