  • Reactor headache

I'm having some reactor issues, every time i try a suimulation it gets to about 95 percent of creating the world and then hangs.

I'm trying to do a slow motion animation of +/- 200 diamonds hitting the ground with a thin film of water on it. I'm doing it at 200fps to later stretch as needed, hence reactor, the only water surface sim I can create keyframes from. (that I know of, unless someone can tell me how to get dreamscapes dynamics baked into key frames)

    Thanks

dynamics is not my strongest but have you thought of using real flow? you can sim your diabonds and then do the water in RF and bring the mesh back to max for final rendering.

      Thanks Morbid

Yes, but unfortunatly you have no control over the mesh after import. It will always be at the frame rate of the sim, as realflow soft bodies references external files.

Although from everything I've heard, Realflow 5 would be my sollution. Wish it was ready. he he

This sounds like it could be done with particle flow.
box 2 has a particle skinner which you can use for the water surface.
Using phys x you can make the 200 diamonds fall realtime in the viewports.

You can also adjust world settings like gravity or timescale for slow motion.
        Reflect, repent and reboot.
        Order shall return.

          thanks tammo

Looks great, did a few dynamics tests, will certainly help save time there. Still trying to figure the watersurface out though.

You can take a look at this video:

They are doing a thin water surface at 7:00 minutes with the particle skinner.
