  • how important is memory MHz

    hello

I try to buy some new ram for my workstation, but I can't find the right way out of the jungle.
there are so many different products...

so, my question is, how important are the MHz? can I take the cheapest ram? is ram important for rendering, I mean their speed?

    best regards

    Hello,

triple channel makes a really visible difference...
faster ram = faster storage read/write in ram, so yes it impacts the rendertimes...
    between a 1066 and 1333 you'll get something like 10% gain, imo..

If your choice is between speed and quantity, i'll suggest prior to quantity...
with 12GB instead of 6, you'll manage huge scenes with no problem, and you can raise the dynamic memory limit to speedup renders..

try to find in the bench thread some similar configs with only differences in ram speeds, it'll help to choose your priority

fyi: there is no benefit to having the new ram faster than what was already in the pc - but it shouldn't do any harm..
