Grid Snap & grids disappearing problem

Hi I wonder if anyone could help with this problem:

Im using Max 2009 64 bit & sometimes have a problem with the grids disappearing in the front and side viewpoints? The top one is fine?

Grid snap also stops working in thw viewpoints with missing grids? Its fione in the top.

Any ideas as its driving me bonkers! Tried all the obvious stuff. Tested grid scales....

I have exported the simple model out as a 3ds and back in but the problem stays the same?

The problem is solved when I put an object at a central location 0,0,0 so I think it is something to do with teh zoom extents?

If all else fails you can play with the color settings of the grid in user settings, perhaps it is related. Or it is a setting in your viewport driver settings.

I think its some kind of problems with the clipping and there not being any objects in the center of the scene.

So that fixed it but really not 100% sure why!
