much much grainier...also the image is not the same size and if you were to place a large window tile like in that image im sure the noise would be even more.

Yes, but the optimization is visible very well. If I think an old SIGG VRay-RT GPU version video, now with the new "de-noise in the SP2, VRay-RT GPU will be a lot faster!

Vlado, just a question. The SP2 will support Displacement, Proxy and VRayLight mesh ?

Nope; small windows are hard; large windows are easy.

It's a completely different image, of course... and I dare say it's somewhat harder to render than the image posted by Francesco.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

Proxies and light mesh, yes. Displacement will come a bit later (the RT engine can render it, but we still have to write the translator part for 3ds Max).

            Best regards,

There are a couple of renders in there that really blow the average - one is tagged at 2.5 hrs+ I think. There is more information about that shot on my blog (http://surrealstructures.com/blog/?p=696). And the kitchen birdseye view I let render over night - at least 8 hours. I have a tagged version that I will have to find to verify that. But it was quite long. Some were less than 30 minutes. I'm too tired tonight, but will look at the tags for the others tomorrow. In the weeks that we've been testing, I have saved hundreds of renders. It's a lot of fun to manuever around and shoot views that you might not otherwise do. I did that a lot. It is also quite novel to actually see a fairly clean image in less than an hour. Still not used to that. When I can use all the cpus on my network, I'm not sure what I'll do.

Right now you can't set a max time, so it's a little tedious to have to sit there and try to manually save at certain increments. There are a couple of comparisons between fryrender and arion in this article: http://surrealstructures.com/blog/?p=662 Those images were in the first couple of days of beta testing. I probably shouldn't go on and on, but it's been a long day and I'm up past my bedtime. I'm just really happy.

not that I have any experience with arion, for what I know it can be the fastest renderer on earth so I don't mean to argue on that.
the two images posted are of course different, as you point out, but the arion one it's mainly lit by direct light coming from two large emitters, placed at both sides of the scene, while vlado's one mainly by indirect light coming through a small window. quite a different scenario, and I'd say the latter it's much harder to clean.
would be interesting to see how vray rt performs with a scene comparable to the one posted as example by francesco. which, by the way, rendered, as you can read on the fryrender forum, for an hour unsing only the cpu and 20 minutes using cpu + gpu.

Since there is no demo for Arion, a lot of real comparating test would beeing well received
