  • 3D model of broccoli

    hello all

I have to model a broccoli, but I don't know how to start?
z-brush, or polymodel in max with displacement, or with scatter?

I didn't found anything serious on web.
it should be a highend model, because we have to apply a iron material and it should look like metal.

    best regards

I would probably polymodel in max, and give a final zbrush pass. I think I would avoid displacement, cause mapping it to get proper displacement could be as long as sculpting it.
Scatter, it is not in my primal instinct to go scatter, unless I really need it, but other pepole may go this way.

maybe you can 3d-scan a real broccoli, that would be cool, and probably cheaper than hand-modelling it.

Shouldnt that be doable with any of the many plant modelling tools out there ? or some plain l-system tool ? GrowFX should be able to do that i assume, no ?

GrowFX could probably do it, but you'd need a week or more to figure out how. It's a pretty steep learning curve IMO.

Pretty powerful - don't get me wrong - but probably not the way to do a single piece like this unless you are already well-versed.

            why not go for romanesco

maybe some mandelbrot code could do it:

I think you can sculpt it with base model like this.
