  • judicial situation using "bing maps" bird eye view images

hi there, has anyone knowledge about the judicial situation, when you want to use a "bing maps" bird eye view image.
i need it for a photo composition of a housing project. the client wants to use the image then for folders, newspaper advertisements, etc. to promote the project.
could i get any problems with microsoft if i use the image?

I've used bing images before. The ones I used (london) were owned by a company called "Blom Pictometry" They may have different licenses for different uses(ie print or TV), but the one I got was cheap; around £100.

      ah, vienna.
      looks familiar

it wont be microsoft to sue you, but blom.

the question is, will they sue you? I did use such images before, for competitions or internal meetings. but personally i wouldn't use it for a printed ad in the "kronen zeitung", without permission

the clients needs would be satisfied with an image of that solutution.
contacted the local representatives of bing maps and wait for reply.
will post further information, if i get one.

One thing to be wary of, the images on bing are the actual ones you can get from Blom; ie you won't get the non-compressed version of the image.... I was amazed that the image they provided to me had the same JPG artifacts as the one on Bing.... I wasnae impressed!
