Any pointers on modelling a chain like this?

I would like to model a chain like the one in the photo. If possible in a way which will allow me flexibility in adjusting the shape in which the chain ly if needed.

Spline + Loft...
in the Loft params. You will be able tu use the build in mapping system, to map this thing in no time.
In the material, I would use a Gradient Ramp in the bump slot,( using the solid preset...)
Should be done in no time
