saw it at the weekend with wife and kids
they liked it, I was a bit disappointed by it
Depp seemd to be Depp -rather than the Mad Hatter
the red queen (mrs Burton) got a bit tedious

there were some great bits - I loved the frogs and the overall design

but the books have a nonsensical logic - whereas the film had a normal story structure underneath the oddities

I just thought it was too dark - not enough silliness
the jabberwock poem is quite dark but Terry Gilliam's already done it
I'd rather see the walrus and the carpenter and a young Alice who accepts it for what it is
(though her choice of career at the end struck me as a studio inspired piece of Disnispiration)

amusingly there was a Disney survey - people handing out paper with tick boxes:
under "why did you want to see the film" were 20-30 choices
ie: because Anne Hathaway is in it etc etc

but not a single box for "because its a Tim Burton film"
