  • Youngs Double Slit Experiment

    Hey all,

This may sound like a dumb question but i was wondering how VRay would respond to this type of situation given the wave/particle nature of light. I'm assuming that the interference patten that shows up when light travels through the double slit won't be visible in a rendering since raycasting is more similar to particles then waves. Just wanted to get your thoughts on it...I'm going to give it a try later today just for the fun of it to see how it works.

maybe the result will be different if you are observing it or not...

i remember someone talking discussing it, or even trying it, over at the maxwell board. I don't think anybody ever managed it though.. I guess light simulators have their limits too.

Raytracers shoot rays from point A to point B, so it will not work.
But its a nice idea, simulation down to the quantum level !

You would have to compute probability fields for each photon, thats a lot of processing.

Maybe we are all living in such a rendering sim right now and if anyone finds out he will be instantly rem

Why does this thread title make me think of a young asian girl whenever I read it? (I can get away with saying that as I'm part Asian.)

Sorry to hear about your cat Percy.
