    Howdy-

I like to apply an Ambient Occlusion pass, but I don't like to paint out what I don't want effected in post. Is their any scripts out their that will allow me to apply a mask over selected items so they don't get the Ambient Occlusion effect?

I usually use Marc Lorenz's plug-in for my AO pass. I could apply a dirt material to everything minus what I don't want; applying a white to that, but that could be an awful lot of work.

    Thanks

When I want to do that I usually create a wire color render element or a multi matte. I dont know if that will work in your situation though.

That's what I was thinking...multimatte. That should do the trick.
