  • awesome playstation move tracking demos

Sony has shown some interesting developer demos of the playstation move hardware during the last engadget show.

It is possible to place and modify polys directly in real space with two controllers.

You can move, rotate and scale the plane like a real object by grabbing its edges with the controllers.

He also used a single controller to move the virtual camera like a real handheld cam.

Another use is for motion capturing.
There was a biped like figure with some build in FK.
It was tracking the whole upper body with arms.
You can even open and close the hands with the analogue triggers.

This is really cool, i hope this will get hacked into a 3ds max plugin someday.

Maybe you could tape two additional controllers to your legs
and get a full body mocap setup?
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.

It looks like someone has already done it.
In this interview the sony guy talks about a games developer who used the move as an input device for 3d content creation:

You can grab directly into your models with both hands and modify them in 3D space.
Its supposed to be far superior than our 2D mouse/tablet/keyboard method.

Its not possible to connect the move controller and camera directly to your pc because you need the cell for the image processing.

The ps3 is then sending the controller data to the PC running the 3d app.
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.
