  • extra Long save time

    I have a simple scene in which i experience long save time.. If i export the scene to a .3ds and then re-import, then merge the vray lights from the orginal scene the savetime goes from seconds to at least 4 minutes and its driving me nuts.... this is happening on two different computers...
    anyone have a workaround ??

    Thanks

    second that... compress on save does not help. Saving local to SSD doesn't help. Made sure any missing links it may be looking for are resolved and no improvement.

      my work around is as follows;
      i exporeted the entire scene to .3ds then i merge as needed applying new materials, new lights etc..
      if i merge anything frome the old scene .. the dumb slow save starts again.. so i am starting fresh and the deadling is looming

        Does the file size increase a lot when you merge old objects? Check if you have reactor collisions stored in your old scene or mixers as re:FORM suggests:

          no , but vlado answered over @ the cgtalk max forums

          Which V-Ray version is that? SP4 has a bug where it would try to save the list of machines for DR into the scene, and if the machines are offline, this could take a very long time. This is fixed for SP4a.

                I could reproduce the problem here; not sure it's related to V-Ray yet but I'm looking into it...

                Best regards,

                    A side note. Using scalpelmax in a scene and saving it while a frame with scalpelmax recorded data is displayed also causes a major slowdown and saved file size inflation problem. This while using the previous scalpelmax version, haven installed the update yet so it may be fixed by now...but wouldn't hold my breath counting on it.

                      This looks to be unrelated to V-Ray itself; the same happens even if I remove V-Ray completely. Not quite sure where is the problem though. Maybe merging the geometry in a new scene will help.

                      Best regards,

                        thank.. the only way it helps is to export everything the reimport.
                        but the retexturing take time.. and i am out of time on my project.....
