  • certain frames taking 10x times longer...

I was rendering about 1800 frames this weekend and I noticed that around frame 192 and for the next 10 frames that instead of them taking 4 minutes, they started taking over an hour and then about 300 frames later, the same thing happened again, some even taking over 2 hours. The animation has a little object movement, but that occurs over the entire animation, especially in the beginning. Any ideas?

    Thanx

How are you rendering all of this out? Backburner to one machine or a renderfarm? Network traffic?

yup... I backburnered it to MY machine, cause I have 1800 frames that is broken up into 600 frame segs. It is the only way I know how to accomplish this. It was over the weekend and any network traffic that would cause this would have come from ME... lol...

What is the memory usage like? Did the render get to a point where it was having to swap heavily to disk? This is a little strange in this situation.

Hmm....those two suggestions are usual suspects in my renders. I am not sure what else to suggest. :/

Is it just movement in the animation? Do you have any objects changing opacity/visibility?
