    Hi,

    I know that some of you with dual XEON pc have problem enabling the HT with VRay.

    I realy don't know if it has someting to do with your problem but Microsoft has just release a fix for the latest Windows XP sp1 ... yes yes yes : a fix for a service pack

    The SP1 has introduced a bug with HT pc, this fix... fix it :

    can I hyper thread with windows 2000 professional. I know the computer can do it. Its a dual xeon 2.4ghz but someone told me that I need windows 2000 server to aknowledge more than 2 processors?

    any ideas?

      It's true, you need either server or XP and a MB that supports it.

        Win 2000 pro will only recognize 2 cpu's, being the first CPU and its logical cpu. So basically by sticking to win2000 pro you're only using 1 cpu and its HT core. If you disable the HT in your bios, you should see a performance increase as then you're using 2 cpu's, but without the HT benefits.
        You'll only use the full potential of your dual xeon if you switch to Win2000 server or to win XP pro. In your case I think that upgrading to XP would be the cheapest route to take...
