  • AXYZ M3 people texture problem.....HELP!

I recently purchased the (3) new M3 rigged AXYZ models, but I am having a problem with the texture paths. As soon as I merge a figure into another file Max no longer finds the textures which I already mapped to my own server. Instead of looking for that texture on my server, Max looks for a “texture maps” folder on each local machine. Is there some special setting to avoid this? There must be, because I cannot remap all the textures everytime I bring a model into a new file. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the Direct X Shader? I have never used this. Anyone have any suggestions????? Thanks!

Have you set up a user specified asset path for Max? a.k.a. "user paths"

After not finding a map, Max will automatically start going through your list of user paths to see if it can find the asset.

Unrelated to your current issue but critical when considering user defined paths is that it is best if you keep the number of these paths very low so as to avoid longer save and load times. I currently use one local folder on every computer sync'd across the network to keep the contents consistent for all of the render nodes and workstations. It is basically a dump of every image that I have ever had pathing problems with. I believe I have one other folder specifically for *.vrmesh files, and between those two I never have misssing file errors when texture image assets from external sources are simply dumped in there.

Apparently with this Direct X Shader you have to reset the paths under the Asset Tracking Manager and not in the material editor. This is how AXYZ responded to me. So far it seems to work........

I used to use the user paths.....until I hit the limit! I no longer use them though. I make sure everything is on the server and have no problems.
