  • backburner problem (it assign the jobs but pcs doesn't start rendering)

I recently upgraded my renderfarms to max design 2011. ANd I noticed that when sending the job only few pc are starting to render. The rest has the icon that is active and is assigned to job but doesn't pick it up. When I remove from job and assign again still nothing happens. Anyone had similar problem and could help?
When I watched renderfarm that didn't pick the job, it was like at first time it received the job max started but just closed , wrote application down and that is it. No error nothing. But when reassigning the job to this renderfarm it doesn't even start max.

Once a machine errors enough times on a certain job, it gets flagged to no longer work on that job (I think it may still show as 'assigned') Select your job and right click the machine and choose "Reset for selected jobs" and it should pick it back up. As to why it's not rendering in the first place, not sure, I guess my first recommendation would be to double check all the application versions to make sure the right thing was installed Max vs Design vs 32 vs 64, etc. I'm hoping my first tip will at least help troubleshoot what is going on. Be sure to check the Max log file, backburner log file, and vray log file to see if any have more insight into what is going wrong.

if you have max 2010 installed as well, you do need to install a patch for 2010 (3dsmax2010_2010.02.17) otherwise MAx 2011 won't open.
