A company in san diego is looking for a Fusion compositor. I know nothing about this software and was wondering what makes it better than others. Any info?

it's basically similar to Nuke, node based and handles 3d fairly well. it's pretty fast but it's similar, not better, not much worse. But there is a reason why Nuke is taking over from Shake....and not Fusion...Fusion is like Max, pretty Windows centric.

While it might look similar on the surface there are quite some fundamental differences in Architecture (wich are the main reason it gets adopted so widely these days in my eyes).
One of the biggest differences is the Channels/Layers concept nuke uses that is simply superior to RGBAZ workflows.

I use fusion for 98% of my post work these days. Animations and stills are a breeze and once you sort out good workflows!
I pushed fusion hard on my last job by making it work with an 19k single inage output made up of about 60 32bit layers
