  • Chromatic Aberration

    Chromatic Aberration - can someone explain when to use this and when not to use it. How do you use it. I see in PS's lens distoration when have Chromatic Aberration settings.

    When an image just isn't working and you are getting desperate.

    Bur seriously, I think it can work in certain situations, just use it sparingly and only on images where it would actually show up on a real photo. For example in really high contrast situations like trees against a bright sky. Using it on evenly lit interiors just won't look right.

    Personally its not an effect I am very keen on, having spent so much time trying to get rid of it on actual photos!

      Unfortunately there is an over-use of this optical effects.
      If you ask to some professional photographers, they'll tell you that it's an unwanted effect that they try to minimize.

      From some years, it's fashionable to exagerate it to give more photoreal feeling.

      About your question I think there is a physical relation with the lens but you can simply adjust it how you like.

        Add this to things like lens flares that are abused....
        Two heads are better than one ...
